The Portal of Winter Haven...
There's this tree that grows up to the North of the bay and it's got this magical portal growing into it, or maybe it's grown around the thing itself. There's magical parts of it, and mechanical gizmos that make it up too. You can see through it most times, but then when it "activates" several of these round jewels start to glow and the outside spins in certian ways then suddenly the space fills in like ice growing on a pond until this mirror forms out of the foggy surface. Then folks walk into it or out of it and it ripples like water when they do. It seems like only certain folks can make it work, so maybe you gotta know something or be something special to do it.
I think a long time ago, this thing used to be part of some big ceremonial garden, but whatever happened to this place happened to it too. Magic and nature seems to have tried takin' it back because all those trees have gone wild, but even though they've kinda grown around and into the thing, it seems to be workin' just fine still. 'Course maybe that's how it was supposed to be all along too. I've seen all sorts of people and things come through it--some good, some bad and some just for the heck of it. The thing's big enough for big carts and stuff to come out and go in so you gotta wonder just what it was made to have go through it.
